Privacy Policy
MapWho is built around a simple principle: your relationship data belongs to you, not us. This page explains exactly what that means in practice.
What we don't do
- We don't have user accounts, sign-ups, or logins.
- We don't run servers that store your contacts, notes, or map data.
- We don't show advertising, and we never will.
- We don't track your activity or build a profile of you.
- We don't sell or share your data — there's nothing on our end to sell.
Where your data lives
Everything you add to MapWho — the people you know, notes, call frequency, special dates — is stored directly on your device. Nothing is transmitted anywhere unless you specifically choose to export it. That export file is yours to keep, share, or delete as you see fit.
Importing from your Contacts
You can bring people into MapWho straight from your phone's address book. This uses Apple's own system contact picker, which only ever hands MapWho the specific people you individually select — it never gives MapWho ongoing or general access to your Contacts app, which is why no separate permission prompt appears for this. Anything you import is then stored the same way as anything typed in by hand: on your device, and nowhere else.
Notifications
Reminders — birthdays, anniversaries, and overdue catch-ups — are scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's local notification system. MapWho doesn't use push notifications, and no notification content is ever sent to us or to anyone else.
In-app purchases
MapWho Plus subscriptions are handled entirely through Apple's App Store. Your payment details go to Apple, not to us — we only receive confirmation that a purchase was made, so the app can unlock the relevant features.
Photo library access
If you use the "Share your network shape" feature, MapWho asks for permission to save the generated image to your Photos library. This only happens when you explicitly choose to save it — nothing is added to your photos otherwise.
Children
MapWho isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If MapWho's data practices change — for example, when device sync is introduced — this page will be updated to reflect that, and the change will always follow the same principle: your data, under your control.
